Breaking Down Barriers: Addressing the Health Impacts of Socioeconomic Disadvantage
At Inala Primary Care, we see first-hand how socioeconomic factors shape people’s health outcomes. Access to quality healthcare shouldn’t be determined by postcode or income, yet for many Australians, financial hardship, housing insecurity, and limited resources make it difficult to prioritise their well-being.
Our CEO, Tracey Johnson, recently featured in an insightful article titled Addressing the Health Impacts of Socioeconomic Disadvantage (published in The Health Advocate). In it, they discuss the systemic challenges that vulnerable communities face when accessing healthcare and the vital role that innovative primary care models play in bridging these gaps.
The article highlights how not-for-profit general practices like ours are working to break down barriers to care. From bulk-billed services to integrated community support, our mission is to provide high-quality healthcare to those who need it most. However, this work requires sustainable funding, collaboration, and a commitment to long-term solutions that go beyond treating symptoms to addressing the root causes of poor health.

Let’s work together to ensure that quality healthcare is a right, not a privilege.
