Dr John Aloizos AM
Dr John Aloizos AM is the foundation Chair of Inala Primary Care. Like many of our patients, John was born overseas. He remembers the journey of leaving Greece, learning English and adjusting to a new culture whilst still a child. A general practitioner in Brisbane’s south, he has owned his own medical centres and provided care for over 40 years.
John’s clinical interests extend into palliative care and the digital enablers of health. He became a Member, in the General Division of the Order of Australia, in 2003 for services to medicine. In the same year he was recognised by the World Organisation of Family Doctors as Global Family Doctor of the Month for his work improving general practice administration and management of asthma and diabetes. He remains committed to seeing GP capacity to care for chronic diseases well recognised, supported and funded.
In addition to his role at Inala, he has performed much committee work for the Australian Pharmaceutical Advisory Council, immunisation policy committees and groups overseeing pilot services related to chronic disease and palliative care. Through his vision the Divisions of General Practice around Australia were launched alongside the national general practice quality accreditation body, AGPAL. He was also active through the formation of the National Primary Care Collaboratives. These movements saw Australian general practices lead the world for their level of digitization, systematisation and quality.
Trained with the AICD he holds a number of Directorships and appointments including:
- Chair, Garden City Medical Services Pty Ltd
- Senior Clinical Reference Lead, Australian Digital Health Agency
- Non-Executive Director Tonic Health Media Pty Ltd
