Australia has one of the harshest environments in the world. That is why two out of every three Australians will be diagnosed with skin cancer by the time they are 70! Over three quarters of a million Australians are treated for skin cancer each year. The vast majority of this disease is early and able to be managed by your GP.
Our climate is also a great breeding ground for fungal infections, warts and other transferable skin conditions. Topical treatments and minor procedures are available to eliminate these conditions. We can stop them spreading around your body or to others.
Aging also affects our skin. We are more likely to suffer from infected hair follicles, chronic wounds, dermatitis and ugly spots with each passing decade. Many of these common age related ailments can be quickly and easily treated by your GP, keeping you more comfortable and looking great for longer.
We have GPs with additional training in an array of advanced skin procedures. We can:
- perform annual skin checks
- treat warts and small skin lesions
- shave away ugly spots
- biopsy potential cancers to give you piece of mind
- excise moles and larger cancers
- treat infectious skin and nail conditions with medications
- suture lacerations and minor injuries
- drain boils
- manage chronic wounds
- perform post procedure after care for staples and sutures
Your skin is your largest organ and the window the world uses to view you. Keep it in optimum health through regular check-ups. Always raise any changes or concerns with your skin with your doctor.
